The Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO) has opened the public comment period for the draft Royal Decree on the conservation of forest genetic resources and wild flora.

The Working Group created following the declaration of the Cantabrian capercaillie (Tetrao urogallus) as a critically endangered species presented the results of the first population estimate of the species today, Friday the 25th, in Oviedo.

At the Zarza de Granadilla breeding center, seven cubs have passed their third month of life and have been named. Of this season's seven cubs, three males and four females have been given names for easy identification, both in the field and at the breeding centers.

The Secretary of State for the Environment, Hugo Morán, has inaugurated the 1st Spanish Botanical Congress, which will take place from today until the 10th in Toledo. In his speech, Morán highlighted the value of knowledge about flora as a tool for addressing the environmental challenge.
